Microsoft – Adding Defender AV folder exceptions

Problem

For some products to operate correctly it may be necessary to provide Defender with folder exclusions from its scanning technology.

  1. Microsoft Defender

Resolution

Please use one of the methods below as appropriate to he operational scenario.

  1. Open Start then search and launch Windows Security.
  2. Click on Virus & threat protection.
  3. Under Virus & threat protection settings, click Manage Settings.
  4. Scroll down to Exclusions and click Add or remove exclusions.
  5. Click Add an exclusion then Choose Folder.
  6. Browse to the folder you want to exclude and confirm.
