Microsoft - Run Windows networking troubleshooter

Problem

A customer encounters problems connecting to a network on their computer running Windows.  

Applies to

  1. Windows 10/11

Resolution

The built in Windows troubleshooter modules are a good first step at fixing common problems.  You can use the Windows automatic Network troubleshooter to see if it can help resolve the problem.

Windows 11

  1. Open Start and search then launch Troubleshooting Settings.
  2. Then choose Other Troubleshooters > Network and Internet and click Run button.
  3. Then follow the instructions to work through the troubleshooter

Windows 10

Windows 10 has reach the end of its life, you can run the troubleshooter to see if it can help.  Microsoft recommend upgrading to Windows 11 where possible.
  1. Click Start > Settings > Network and Internet.
  2. Then choose Status  from the left-hand menu.
  3. Then scroll down and select Network troubleshooter
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Other things to try

  1. Reset Windows IP settings
  2. Reinstall existing network driver
