Viewplus – TSS unable to emboss Grade 2 Braille
Problem
A TSS user encounters a problem where they are unable to emboss Grade 2 Braille, instead they only get Grade 1 output.
Applies to
- TSS
Resolution
Each Braille profile in TSS contains three languages. If a user wishes to only use one language and only emboss Grad 2 Braille they can specify that English be used with all three languages when any font is useed in Microsoft Word. If this is done for all three languages TSS will be unable to do anything else other than print Grade 2 in response to any fonts used in the document.
- Open the Braille profile settings.
- On the Choose A Language Setting drop down press ALT+DOWN ARROW and then use UP/DOWN ARROW keys to select Default.
- Then press TAB to reach Defined Translation Font drop down and press ALT+DOWN ARROW to open the list, then use UP/DOWN ARROW keys to select <any>.
- Then press TAB to reach Choose A Language drop down and set this to Secondary Language.
- Then press TAB to reach Secondary Translation Font drop down, then use UP/DOWN arrow keys to select <None>.
- For the tertiary language profile you can do exactly the same as for the secondary language in step 5 above.
When the above changes are made it effectively prevents the secondary and tertiary language settings being applied to any Braille output.
Please refer to screenshots below showing how things should be set for primary and secondary lagnauges, the same would also be true for tertiary language as well.
Figure 1 - Above shows settings for primary language
