Applications fail to launch after install June 2022 security update

Problem

After installing security update KB5014697 applications do not run anymore.

Affected apps
• Dragon 15
• Kurzweil 1000
• ZoomText
• MindView

  • Any other apps that use NET 3.5 Framework components

Resolution

  1. Open Start menu and search "Control Panel" and launch it.
  2. Then open "Programs and features" if you cannot see it click the "View by" drop down at the top right and choose either small or large icons.
  3. Then click the link "Turn Windows Feature on or off".
  4. You should see a list of Windows features similar to below, at the top of this is Net Framework 3.5, click the plus sign just to the left t open up the sub features.
  5. Then make sure both checkboxes are checked.

  1. Then click the OK button to reinstall those features.
  2. Restart the computer to complete the changes.
