Microsoft – Windows 11 24H2 update fails to install

Problem

When attempting to install Windows 11 24H2 update an eror occurs stating there is insuffient space within the system reserved partition and the update install fails.

  1. Windows 11 24H2

Resolution

  1. Open command prompt as administrator.
  2. At the command prompt enter the command below, then press ENTER to log into the drive that contains the reserved partition:

    mountvol y: /s

  3. Log onto th drive using the command below:

    Y:

  4. Then enter the command below to navigate to the folder then press ENTER:

    cd EFI\Microsoft\Boot\Fonts

  5. Then enter the command below to delete contents of the fonts directory, then press ENTER:

    del *.*
