SmartVision 3 - Install system update

Problem

A SmartVision 3 user wishes to respond to a notification of an available system update or seek an update anyway.

Resolution

Please use the steps below to update the Android software on SmartVision 3 phone.  Users should be aware that there are currently no plans to offer Android 12 on the SmartVision 3 due to problems this version causes for the Kapsys software, however updates will continue to be pushed security patches for the existing Android 11 software.

  1. Where possible plug the SmartVision into a charger to avoid losing power during the update process.
  2. Then from the home screen press MENU and hen use UP/DOWN arrow keys to choose Settings and pres OK.
  3. Then navigate using UP/DOWN arrow keys to choose About Phone and press OK.
  4. Then choose System Update then press OK.
  5. Then use UP/DOWN arrow to navigate to the Download and Install button and press OK.  The update will then begin download and provide download progress updates.
  6. If you wish to stop downloading press Back button to exit back to the main screen.  You may navigate using steps 1 through 4 to re-commence downloading where you left off.
  7. Then navigate down to Update button then press OK.  You will near notifications when the update has been successfully installed.

Note
You can also open Applications and choose Settings app.  If an update is available you will be taken directly to the System Update screen if an update is available for the SmartVision 3 phone.


Idea
Tip
Updates for the Android system can be quite large, please be patient during the download.  You can lock the phone and leave it to download the software in standby mode.  When you unlock you will be returned to the screen you were on before the phone was locked.
