Cleaning print head on Canon MG-6851

Problem

Printing is either of poor quality or no printing output at all.

Resolution

Before attempting the steps below it is advisable to check the ink levels as this can be responsible for this type of issue. If ink levels are good then cleaning the print head.

  1. With the printer powered on load a sheet of A4 paper.
  2. On the printer it will show the paper registration screen. Select A4 page size and "plain paper" for type.
  3. Open the output paper tray gently.
  4. Then flick to go back to the "Home" screen and tap on the "Setup" icon.
  5. Tap "maintenance" icon and then tap "Cleaning".
  6. Then choose "Cleaning".
  7. Tap "Yes" on the confirmation screen.
  8. Then run the nozzle check to see if this has helped.

If there are still problems you can try the same instructions but in step 6 choose "deep cleaning" option.
