Clear the Safari browser cache

Information

Below two methods for clearing the Safari browser cache.

Application

  • Fix freezing or crashing issues with Safari browser.

Method 1: using the keyboard shortcut

  1. Close any tabs and then close the Safari browser completely.
  2. Then press and hold down the shift key.
  3. With the shift key held down double click the Safari icon to re-launch the browser. This action clear the browser cache which may resolve the issue.

Method 2: using the developer menu

  1. Open Safari as normal then click the Safari menu bar.
  2. Then choose Preferences > Advanced tab.
  3. Then check the item at the bottom “Show the Developer menu in menu bar.
  4. Close the preferences window.
  5. Now click the newly revealed Developer menu and choose Empty Cache.
