Resolution

When analysing this problem consider the following:

  1. If this problem is encountered within an organisation or business setting, where the PC is maintained by an IT staff the problem is most likely due to lack of permissions under the limited user account.  Therefore one should attempt to address this by logging in as administrator. for the activation process.

  1. If the problem is encountered in a domestic setting where there is a single user and it is not controlled by an IT staff most likely the user already as Administrator level.  One can check this by looking under their account to check they are administrator.  Then one can attempt the steps shown below to replace the existing authorisation with an updated version.

  1. Rick click the Start menu and choose Run, then enter text below and click OK to proceed with opening he folder path:

    %ProgramData%\Freedom Scientific\licenses

  2. Locate and highlight the authorisation CPS file appropriate to currently installed product if the authorisation requires updating:

    JAWS.CPS – For JAWS customers
    ZOOMTEXT.CPS – for ZoomText customers
    FUSION.CPS – For Fusion customers
    MULTIPRODUCT.CPS - 90 day trial

  3. Then press DELETE key to attempt to delete the file, if prompted confirm file deletion.
  4. Open the Start menu and enter the search “Utilities” and launch the result relating to the installed Freedom Scientific product:

    Utilities – JAWS
    Utilities – ZoomText
    Utilities – Fusion

  5. Then double click the item Start Activation inside the File Explorer window and follow the prompts.  For domestic machines most often you can choose Automatic activation method and for other scenarios it is best to choose manual activation method for JAWS, ZoomText or Fusion.
  6. A fresh activation should then be installed on the system.
