Fusion – Black screen fix for 2026.2603 March update

Problem

A Fusion user encounters a problem when Fusion 2026.2603 March build starts the display goes black.

An updated version which corrects the issue can be downloaded using one of the links below.   If you are unable to update use the steps for Adjusting Display Adaptor Setting below:

Adjusting Display Adaptor Setting (Fusion  2026 and later)

Users unable to upgrade immediately can use the steps below in Fusion 2026 to adjust how Fusion display driver intercepts video:

  1. Press ALT+Z as a chord to open the Zoomtext Settings menu.
  2. Then press UP/DOWN arrow to select Prererences, then press ENTER to open the sub-menu.
  3. Then press UP/DOWN ARROW keys to select Advanced, then press ENTER.
  4. Then press UP/DOWN ARROW keys to select Display Adaptor, then press ENTER.
  5. In the Display Adaptor utility press UP/DOWN ARROW keys so select one of the following if available:

    Magnification API
    Magnification API (non magnified screen capture)

  6. Then press ENTER key to confirm the selection.  You will then be prompted to restart the system.
  7. Press TAB to highlight Yes button then press SPACEBAR.  Fusion will then restart with one of the magnification API settings restoring normal display to the end user.

Adjust Display Adaptor Setting (Fusion 2025 or lower)

  1. Press CONTROL+CAPSLOCK+U to open the main Fusion window.
  2. Then press ALT followed by F to open the Fusion menu..
  3. Then press UP/DOWN arrow to select Preferences, then press ENTER to open the sub-menu.
  4. Then press UP/DOWN ARROW keys to select Advanced, then press ENTER.
  5. Then press UP/DOWN ARROW keys to select Display Adaptor, then press ENTER.
  6. In the Display Adaptor utility press UP/DOWN ARROW keys so select Magnification API.
  7. Then press ENTER key to confirm the selection.  You will then be prompted to restart the system.
  8. Press TAB to highlight Yes button then press SPACEBAR.  Fusion will then restart with one of the magnification API settings.

Note
  1. Magnification API setting is available in ZoomText versions 2025 and below but will cause magnified screen to be passed on whilst in Microsoft Teams meetings when screen sharing.
  2. Magnification API (non magnified screen capture) setting is available in Fusion 2026 and later.  This setting fixes the problem nd passes on the non-modified screen output to any other applications such as Microsoft Teams to relay the unmodified screen.
