Fusion – Changes to Fusion 2026 application window

A Fusion user or trainer wishes to know more about the changes to the Fusion window in version 2026.

Resolution

Iin Fusion 2025 and earlier the interface for JAWS and ZoomText appeared in separate places.  From Fusion 2026 Freedom Scientific have unified both JAWS and ZoomText into the main Fusion application window.  This results in some changes to how you can access the features.

New menu layout

Using the mouse with the Fusion window is largely unchcnaged except for the addition of the Fusion menu.  However when using  the keyboard to access the menu system some things have changed.  To access the main Fusion menus in the application window press and hold the following key chords:

  1. ALT+F = Fusion  menu
  2. ALT+Z = ZoomText Setttings
  3. ALT+J = JAWS Settings
  4. ALT+B = Braille Settings (Optional)

Configuring Fusion window

The Fusion application window can be configured somewhat by the user using the steps below:

  1. Press ALT+F or click Fusion menu.
  2. Then choose Toolbar Layout or press menu accelerator key T.
  3. Then choose one of the sub menu options as desired:

  1. Show the tabs
  2. Show tabs as menus
  3. Show Braille tab

Show tabs

In this view the familiar tabs are supplemented by menus for ZoomText and JAWS settings.  This setting is most suitable for those using a mopuse and visual navigation.



Show tabs as menus

In this view tabs are removed and replaced entirely with menus only.  This setting is most useful for those who prefer keyboard navigation primarily.



Braille Settings

Optionally, display of the Braille menu may be configured for those who need it within the Fusion window.
