Glean – unable to record screen audio from app on Mac OS

Problem

A customer using Mac OS is unable to record audio directly from an installed meeting app such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom. Also when attempting to recording audio a customer may see the following error posted: “Unable to record screen audio”.


Resolution

  • Glean is unable to record audio directly from an application, This is a known issue (20/03/2023) being worked on by their development team.
  • To work around the problem, customers are advised to record meeting from a tab using the equivalent web app via Google Chrome browser instead.

Workaround steps

  1. Open Chrome browser with Glean in one tab and your meeting in another tab.
  2. Switch to the Glean tab and click Record and then Screen audio or Screen Audio & Mic as appropriate.
  3. In the window that opens click Chrome Tab link and click the Chrome tab you wish to record (1).
  4. Then click Share Audio checkbox (2), then click OK button (3).
