HP - Deskjet 2710 always shows busy message

Problem

The HP printer is not accepting print jobs with an error that indicates it is busy.


Applies to

  1. HP Deskjet 2710

Resolution:

HP 2710 does not print produces busy error message.


Method 1: Reset printer

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
    NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  9. Check for busy status, do a test print.

Method 2: Uninstall/reinstall printer driver (requires USB cable)

  1. Right click Start button and select Apps and Features.
  2. In the list select the HP 2710 installation, then click "Uninstall" to remove it.
  3. In Windows search for "Printers and scanners" and open it.
  4. In the "Printers and scanners" look for your HP printer. If you see it listed click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’.
  5. Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” and enter the command below and click "OK":
printui.exe /s

(Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
6. Restart the computer and download the
HP Easy Start software
10. Run the installer to install the printer drivers.
