JAWS - A third party web app or website has accessibility problems
Problem
A JAWS user encounters a problem where a third party web app or website does not work well with JAWS/Fusion.
Applies to
- JAWS/Fusion
Resolution
- The performance of an accessibility product such as JAWS can depend on the layout and controls used in a web app or website. JAWS/Fusion has been developed to interact and successfully interrogate stand Windows controls provided by Microsoft. However, where third party controls which do not conform there may be some accessibility problems.
- The best way of resolving these problems is to get in contact with the developer of the web app or website to explain that part of their site or app has accessibility problems with JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion. When reporting this it may be best to provide them the links below so they can go about resolving the problem. The primary resource for this is the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI). The W3C committee have worked to provide accessibility guidelines (WCAG) that developers and testers can use to validate if their work results in an accessible website/app.
- If nothing can be done with the app it may be possible to use scripting with JAWS/Fusion to workaround the issue please see JAWS scripting service for further information.
