JAWS – Access a paper handwritten document using a scanner or camera
Problem
A JAWS user would like to read some handwriting on paper using their scanner or Pearl camera.
Applies to
- JAWS
Resolution
Handwritten text will normally defeat traditional OCR attempts to scan it. Instead a JAWS user may use the JAWS Picturesmart feature which submits the image to AI which may be able to do a better job of interpretting the document.
- Load the handwritten work onto your flatbed scanner/Pearl camera ready to scan.
- Then press JAWSKey+SPACEBAR, followed by P, A then press ENTER.
- Your scanner or camera will then take a picture of the handwritten work and display the result in the results viewer. Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to browse the description and text.
Note
Results may vary from document to document, be alert for errors in handwriting recognition.
