JAWS - Dialog is not in focus message in Chrome browser
Problem
A JAWS user may hear the message JAWS speak the message 'dialogue is not in focus' shortly after activating a download link. The message advises to press ALT+SHIFT+A but the keystroke does not work.

Resolution
This problem is current on JAWS 2024.2409 and 2025 public beta. it is under investigation by development, below is a workaround for the problem in the mean time.
Workarounds
Use either workaround to gain access to the download in Chrome.
Method 1 - Using Google Chrome download list
After downloading an item CONTROL+J to bring the main download list.
Use TAB and arrow keys to navigate the interface to launch or open the download item from there.

It is also normal practice for any downloads to show in the Downloads folder in Windows as long as the user has not changed it. to send files into the main
Downloads folder on a Windows system.
Method 2 - Go directly to downloads folder
- Press WINDOS+E to open Windows Explorer.
- Press CONTROL+L to activate the address bar.
- Then immediately type 'Downloads' and press ENTER to navigate directly to the Windows Downloads folder.
- You are then free to navigate with the arrow keys in the list view.
