JAWS – Page number not announced in Word document

Problem

A JAWS user encounters a problem where JAWS does not announce then number of the page the cursor has moved into whilst using the arrow keys within a document.

Resolution

This is an option that can be changed within JAWS Quick Settings.

  1. Press JAWSkey+V to open Quick Settings.
  2. At the edit prompt type the word 'Page' then press DOWN ARROW to the option 'Page, section and column break'.
  3. Then press SPACEBAR check the option if unchecked.
  4. Then press ENTER to save the change.
