JAWS – Restore missing application desktop shortcut

Problem

A Windows user encounters a problem where one of the shortcuts for an application is missing from the desktop.

Applies to

  1. JAWS + Windows 11

Resolution

  1. Press WINDOWS key to open search.
  2. Then type the name of the application and use UP/DOWN ARROW keys to highlight the desired search result.
  3. Press SHIFT+F10 whilst focused on the application listed in the search results.
  4. Then press UP/DOWN ARROW keys to locate Open File Location, then press ENTER.
  5. A File Explorer window will open with the application highlighted.
  6. Press SHiFT+F10, then press UP ARROW to choose More options, then press ENTER. Using UP/DOWN ARROW keys highlight Send To, then the press ENTER.
  7. Using UP/DOWN ARROW keys highlight Desktop (Create shortcut), then press ENTER.
