K1000 – Set a alternative document home folder

Problem

A K1000 user wishes to set an alternative document home folder location for Kurzweil 1000 documents to be stored. 

Applies to

  1. Kuzweil 1000

Resolution

By default a Kurzweil Educational Systems folder is placed in the main Documents folder within which sub folders of different document categories are created.  However you may change the home folder to a new location using the steps below.

Creatre and set K1000 default document folder

  1. Open Windows File Explorer and create a new folder that will host your kurzweil documents.  It is recommended to keep this  on a locallly connected disk drive rather than network share.
  2. Open Kurzweil 1000, then open Folder > Change (Alt L C).
  3. Then select from the list the folder you want to use as your default document directory, then choose OK.
  4. Then go to Settings > Save Settings (Alt T V) and save over the Default settings file.

Create K1000 category folders (Optional)

To create the Kurzweil document category folders use the steps below:

  1. In Kurzweil 1000 Go to Folder > Document Home (Alt L H).
  2. When prompted to change the directory, choose Yes.
  3. Select the folder you'd like populated with the other folders and choose OK.
