Microsoft – Outlook opens links in Edge instead of selected default browser

Problem

If a user has set an alternative default browser to Microsoft Edge opening links from Outlook opens the links in Microsoft Edge rather than selected browser.

 

Resolution

 Please use one of the methods below as required.


Method 1 - Using the keyboard

  1. Press ALT+F then down arrow to Options and press ENTER.
  2. Press DOWN ARROW to reach Advanced in the options Categories.
  3. Press TAB key until you reach the drop down box labelled Open Hyperlinks from Outlook In.
  4. Then press ALT+DOWN arrow and use UP/DOWN arrow keys to select Default Browser. Then press Then until you reach OK button and press SPABCEAR on it to complete the change.

 

Method 2 – Using a mouse

  1. Click File > Options > Advanced.
  2. Then click the drop down Open Hyperlinks from Outlook In and select Default Browser.
  3. Then click OK button.
