This document is about the Plustek OpticBook range of flatbed scanners.  Their main selling point is the book edge facility which is useful for scanning large tightly bound book volumes.  Then scanners listed in this document work well with JAWS, Fusion, Openbook and Kurzweil 1000 software.   There scanning speed for OCR work is of particular note with the 3800 scanning in 7 quoted at seconds and the 4800 having in 3.5 seconds.  Those times compare very favourably with that offer by more mainstream offerings from Canon and Epson which come in at about 8-10 seconds for a scan.  The Opticb

IMPORTANT!
  1. Do not connect the scanner to the target computer until instructed to do so during driver installation, if no instruction is given during setup wait until after the computer has restarted before pluggin in the scanner so Windows can detecte it.
  2. Please make sure that the correct TWAIN scanner source in the scanning software to ensure successsful scanning takes place. 
  3. If scanner head fails to move when commanded to scan, please attend to the scanner lock switch on the under side of the unit, the scanner head may need to be unlocked so it can move along the platen.
