Viewplus – Embraille paper loading (tractor feed)
Problem
A new user needs to load tractor feed paper for embossing with Embraille.
Applies to
- Viewplus Embraille
Resolution
- When used in tractor feed operation paper is fed into the rear of the Embraille using a set of tractor sprocket clips either side of the paper.
- The incoming paper will then go inside the embosser, around a platen to be embossed and returned to the read and be fed back out.
- For trouble free operation the Embraille should be at least 75cm (typical desk hight) above the stack of paper feeding into the embosser.
- To accommodate the embossed paper being fed out of the Embraille rear one should allow approximately 60cm of clearance between the back of the embosser and any wall.
Loading tractor feed paper
- Move the paper-feed lever on the right as seen from the front of the embosser all the way toward the back of the embosser for continuous paper position.
- Raise the tractor doors at the back and fit the first 3 paper sprocket holes holes onto the left hand tractor pins. Close the left tractor door. In the same way, install the paper on the right tractor.
- If the paper is too taut or sags in the middle adjust the right tractor to the width of the paper until the paper is flat. Do not stretch the paper too taut. Push the right lock lever down to secure the right tractor in place.
- Press the Load/Eject key to load the paper to the starting print position. The embosser is now ready to print in the online state. The load/Eject key is third from the left on the control panel (as seen from the front of the embosser). The embosser is not reading for printing.

Figure 1: The illustration above shows the Embraille control panel as seen from the front From left to right the buttons are: tear off, reverse/down. Load/eject, cancel.
Figure 2: The illustration above shows the embraille as seen from the rear with paper fed in using the tractor feed sprocket clips and showing the paper lever moved to the rear position for tractor feed operation.
Figure 3: The illustrated shows an Embraille on top of a desk a stock of incoming paper below on the floort. The embossed output is then being fed out to a stack on the floor at the back of the Embraille with approximately 60cm clearance between the embosser and the wall at the back.
