WeWalk – Firmware bug version 2.43.1 and 3.43.1 causing problems

Problem

A WeWalk user encounters a problem with their WeWalk unit producing continuous random sound, distorted speech and/or the unit may fail to turn off when commanded..

Resolution

  1. In March 2026 WeWalk develoopers have identified firmware versions 2.43.1 and 3.43.1 to be causing problems with audio playback on the WeWalk hardware affecting some userss.   
  2. The developers have restored the previous known good firmware to the update process which is expected to fix the problem.

Firmware restoration steps

Users affected may fix their units by taking the following steps below:
  1. If battery is low or completely discharged, please charge WeWalk hardware fully or for at least one hour for partial charge to 30 percent.  If you hear noise emitted during charge please ignore it.
  2. Take WeWalk off charge and power up WeWalk.
  3. Open the WeWalk app on your smartphone and it should detect the cane and offer an update. This will carry out a factory reset and install the previous stable firmware after which the WeWalk hardware should function as normal upon completion of the firmware install.
