WeWalk – New compass function added in Firmware

Problem

A WeWalk user who has updated their unit with the September 2025 update wishes to know more about ther new compass funcionality.

Resolution

At the beginning of September 2025 a new WeWalk firmware update was released to the public which enables a compass feature to help with providing better navigation feedback.  However, some calibration is required before use.

  1. Make sure Smart Cane 2 is properly attached to the white cane.
  2. In an outdoor area, hold the cane at a walking angle of about 45–55 degrees, with the side containing four buttons facing upward and the side with two buttons facing right.
  3. On the right side, press and hold the button located below the obstacle detection button until you hear the beep.
  4. While keeping the cane at the walking angle, slowly rotate in a circle together with the cane.
  5. When you hear three beeps, the calibration process is complete.

This improvement is currently available only on iOS. Work on the Android version is still in progress.

  1. If you notice that the compass is not working correctly, you can repeat the calibration by following the same steps.
  2. If you cannot calibrate right now, you will see this alert again when you reconnect the app and the cane.
