Asus Vivobook A509JA webcam is not working

Problem

No camera output is available using the Asus A509JA webcam.

Resolution

• Check device manager for the follow device name: USB 2.0 VGA UVC WebCam
• If the driver is not showing use the steps below to install the driver back onto the system.

  1. Visit the following site to access driver downloads: https://www.asus.com/UK/supportonly/A509JA/HelpDesk_Download/
  2. Click the drop down "Please select OS" and choose the operating system being used on the laptop to download the relevant driver.
  3. In the list that populates below locate "Camera" and then click the blue "Download" button to download the installer.
  4. Now run the installer and follow the on-screen prompts.
    Give the laptop a restart afterwards.

• Now check If the device is showing, double click and check that status shows device is working properly.
• If the device is shown to be working properly have the customer press F10 or in some cases Fn+F10, a symbol should display on screen to show the camera has been activated.
• If you need to use the steps below to test the webcam online:

  1. Visit this page: www.webcamtests.com
  2. Then click the button to activate the test.
  3. Respond to any requests to allow access that come up.
  4. Check if you get ouput from the webcam.
  5. If the webcam output does not come up there may possibly be a hardware issue.
