Microsoft - Fix automatic repair boot loop

Problem

When the comupter starts it displays "diagnosing your system" and attempts to repair your systtem, afterwards you come back to a screen that shows automatic repair failed.

Resolution

Please try the methods below to resolve the issue:


Method 1 - Use system restore to go back an earlier configuration.

  1. Click on "Advanced options” in the automatic repair blue screen
  2. Navigate to “Troubleshoot” > “Advanced Options” > “System Restore”
  3. Choose the restore point created right before the blue screen appeared (Windows 10 creates a system restore point each time it installs an update, driver, or application.
  4. Then click "Next" button.
  5. Wait until the restore process finishes, then restart your computer.

Method 2: Run built-in system repair tools

  1. Restart your PC and press the “F8” key (this will trigger the Windows troubleshooting menu)
  2. Select “See advanced repair options”
  3. In the “Choose an option” menu, click “Troubleshoot”
  4. Under the “Troubleshoot” menu, select the “Advanced options” option
  5. Select “Command Prompt” in the “Advanced options”
  6. In the command prompt window, type the following and press ENTER:
chkdsk /r c:
  1. After the chkdsk command has finished type the following and press ENTER:
sfc /scannow
  1. After SFC finishes type “Exit” to close the Command prompt
  2. Shut down and restart your machine.
