Freedom Scientific – What happened to public betas

A customer asks about the annual public beta for JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion that usually happens around September.

Longstanding customers will have been familiar with the practice of an annual public beta showcasing the new developments for the forthcoming major release of Freedom Scientific products JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion. Whilst there will be a new release that occurs late October/November it will mainly herald the start of the new development cycle. being launched in September for the forthcoming Freedom Scientific release late October or early November. More recently Freedom Scientific products have used their auto-updat facility to deliver features and fixes more continuously throughout the development cycle. With this in mind from the 2026 release and onwards there will be no annual public beta. Freedom Scientific direct users to the Early Adaptor programme dialogue that allow users to opt in for beta features that are of interest which provides these features as and when they become available.
