HP 2710/e - Paper does not feed


Problem

When using an HP Deskkjet 2710 the paper feed rollers are not feeding paper properly.

Resolution

The rollers just inside the rear paper tray help feed paper into the printer mechanism.  If they become dirty their ability to feed paper through properly diminishes or does not work at all.  At these times they require cleaning to fix the problem.


Method 1 – Use automatic roller clean

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Remove any paper from the input tray.
  3. Press and hold the Power button, press the Cancel button three times, press the Start Color Copy button seven times, and then release the Power button.
  4. The printer makes noise for approximately one minute while cleaning the paper rollers.

 

Method 2 – Manually clean paper rollers

1.    Press Power button to switch off the printer.

2.    Raise the input tray at the back of the printer.

3.    Then lift and hold the input tray shield but do not remove it.

4.    Then locate the grey paper pick up rollers inside the tray (you may need a torch to view them).

5.    Lightly dampen a cotton swab with water. Squeeze any excess liquid from the swab.

6.    Then place the swab on the rollers, and then rotate them upward with your fingers. Apply a moderate amount of pressure to remove any dust or dirt buildup.

7.    Lower the input tray shield.

8.    Allow the rollers to dry completely (approximately 10 minutes).After drying time has been allowed reconnect the power cord and any other cables, and then turn on the printer.
