Index - Everest V4/V5 paper feed issues
Problem
When embossing with Index Everest embossers the paper feed rollers or sheet feeder is not operating correctly.
Applies to
- Index Everest V4 and V5
Resolution
The following are areas to check if there are problems with paper feeding on the Index Everest. Please go through each point to see if any of these areas are responsible for the trouble.
Paper
Please use good copy paper quality with minimum weight of 120 gsm
Paper Guides/supports
The plastic paper supports should be slotted in behind the paper. The paper should then rest against these. Without these clipped in, the paper will bend backwards and not feed corectly.
Feed rollers
The paper rollers which pull the paper into the embosser should be clean and have good grip (they should have a rubbery texture and not be smooth). If they paper rollers no longer have enough grip, they will need to be cleaned with "Platenclene" (can be purchased from Amazon etc) Alternatively using sandpaper the rollers can be lightly improve grip of their surface.
Paper selectors
Where paper is double-feeding, move the sheet/card selectors upwards, both right and left selector to the same position, until the papers are separated correctly (i.e, each page feeds through separately). If the paper is not feeding at all, move the selectors downwards. Ensure both of these selectors are both in level position to avoid uneven feeding.
Below shown is the location of the card/sheet selectors.
Paper out sensor
If the feeder is pulling the paper through but the embosser is still reporting that there is no paper, or that there is a paper jam even when there is no jam, it may be an amount of paper dust covering the paper sensor.
Please see this YouTube video resource describing how to remove the front glass: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xni_D0vYrAs
The sensor circled in red is located here, just above the metal embossing head.
Please clean this with a cotton bud, soft cloth, or if you have it available, some canned compressed air to blow away the dust.
