HP - Locate power button on G255 G9 laptop

Problem

A user with low vision/blindness cannot locate the power button for the laptop.

Applies to

  1. HP G255 G9 laptop

Resolution

For users with vision, the power button is a narrow rectangular button on the left situated just above the QWERTY keyboard on the left side.

Detailed steps

  1. Position the laptop in front of you witrh the lid open, nearest you on the top panel is a centrally locate touchpad for manipulating the mouse pointer.
  2. Behind the touchpad is he QWERRTY keyboard which takes of up the bulk of of top panel.
  3. Behind the QWERTY layout on the extreme left side there is an ESCAPE and F1 key on the top row.
  4. Almost directly above the ESC and F1 keys is a small narrow rectangular button almot flush with the top panel.
  5. Gently depress this button for approximately two seconds to power on the unit.  Assuming the laptop is plugged in or has sufficient battery power, the laptop will then boot into Windows.
