JAWS - Attach file to message in Outlook

Problem

A JAWS user wishes to include a file attachment with a message they are sending in Microsof

Applies to

  1. Outlook (Classic)
  2. Outlook (New)

Resolution

  1. Outlook Classic - Press the following keys in sequence ALT, H, A. F to open the file attachment menu, then use UP/DOWN ARROW keys to select the desired option then press ENTER.
  2. Universl steps - The steps below are confirmed as a universal method that works for both Outlook Classic and Outlook New mail clients.  This may work with other email clients as well.

  1. Press WINDOWS+E toi open File Explorer window.
  2. Navigate to the folder containing the file to be attached.
  3. Then with the file highlighted press CONTROL+C to copy to clipboard.
  4. Create your email message in New Outlook as normal, then press TAB through to the message bod.
  5. Then press CONTROL+V, JAWS will say 'pasted' to indicate the file copied has been attached to the draft email.
  6. Send the message as normal to your recipient.
