JAWS/Fusion - Disable BBC News subtitles read during playback

Problem

When playing a BBC New video a user encounters a probem where JAWS/Fusion will read out the subtitles display on screen making the audio track hard to listen to.

Resolution

It is possible to disable subtitles so you can hear the sound track.
  1. Navigate to the video and start it playing then choose Pause to halt playback.
  2. Then press TAB through until you get to Open Subtitles then press ENTER or SPACEBAR.
  3. Then press TAB to reach the on/off toggle switch.
  4. Press JAWSKey+3 to pass key through.
  5. Then press ENTER you should hear the button gets toggled off.
