JAWS - Running Canon IJScan utility to retain images

Problem

A JAWS who also has a Canon scanner wish to retain a scanned image.

Resolution

Many Canon flatbe and multi-function printers come supplied with a scanning utility known as IJ Scan to retrieve a scanned item to a file or to be processed further.  If your computer does not have this utility you can try using Microsoft Paint to scan an image instead.
One can employ the use of this utility to save a scanned image should you wish to send it onto anyone else:

  1. Press WINDOWS+R to open the Run command dialogue, then enter the text below and press ENTER:

    scanutility.exe

  2. Press TAB to rotate through the buttons to reach Photo button then press SPACEBAR.
  3. The attached scanning device should then start physically scanning the item.
  4. When the scan has finished the default behaviour should be to display the image in Windows Explorer.  From here you can rename or copy the file as desired.
