JAWS – Setting Braille Grade output options

Problem

A JAWS user wishes to make changes to Braille output settings for their Braille display eg. Grade 2 or UEB Braille code.

Resolution

All relevant Braille settings can be changed under the Braille section in Settings Centre. The most frequently required adjustment is to change the Braille language and Grade options.

 

  1. Press JAWSKey+F2, then use UP/DOWN ARROW keys to select Settings Centre and press ENTER.
  2. Then type to search Translation and press down arrow to Translation in the tree view.
  3. Then Press F6 to switch to settings pane.
  4. Then press ALT+DOWN ARROW on the Translation Language drop down and use UP/DOWN ARROW keys to select the desired language eg.  English United Kingdom.
  5. Press TAB to reach the Translation Output drop down.
  6. Then press ALT+DOWN to open this Translation Output list and use UP/DOWN ARROW keys to select the desired option eg. Unified English Brail Grade 2.
  7. Then Press F6 to switch back to tree view.
  8. Then press TAB to reach Apply button then press SPACEBAR.
  9. Then press ENTER on OK button to save the change.
