JAWS – Using the Windows Store ChatGPT app

Problem

A JAWS would like to make use of the ChatGPT app rather than  use the website for greater convenience.

Resolution

On may download and install the Microsoft Store app for ChatGPT, see instructions below for installation and basic use.

Down/install ChatGPT app

  1. This application is available from the Microsoft store.
  2. Press Windows key and then search Store and then open the Microsoft Store app.
  3. Then press control+E to access the search edit box.
  4. Enter ChatGPT then press down arrow to locate it in the suggestions list, then press ENTER to access the app page.
  5. Then navigate to the Get button and press SPACEBAR on it. Installation will then begin.
  6. After installation an Open button will become available, navigate to it and press SPACEBAR on the button. Chat GPT will then open and ask you to sign in or create an account.

Using ChatGPT

  1. After launching the application focus should be placed on 'Ask Anything; the edit box for you to type your search.  Enter the query and press ENTER.
  2. JAWS will read the response back automatically.
  3. To browse through response press letter H to go the heading level 6 then press down arrow to browser the response.
  4. Then press letter E to go back to the prompt edit box and provide a new prompt.
