JAWS – WhatsApp web, chat list no longer reads
Problem
A problem has been reported with JAWS when using WhatsApp via Chrome or other web browser. the
chat list no longer reads as it used to approximately a week prior to
05/08/2024.

- JAWS/Fusion
Problem Steps
- Open Chrome and go to www.whatsapp.com then select WhatsApp Web link and authenticate with the mobile app if required.
- After linking your account press CONTROL+HOME to go to
top of page.
- Then use TAB or down arrow to reach the chat list.
- Using the arrows should read the names in the chat list
but JAWS fails to read them now.
Workaround
- Those affected by this problem may report the issue which has been confirmed in-house with JAWS 2024.2406.121 can be reported to WhatsApp via their webform here: https://www.whatsapp.com/contact/?eea=1&subject=messenger
- Use the Microsoft Store WhatsApp software instead.
