Problem

A JAWS/Fusion customer needs to provide full version information for their Microsoft Office in order to help resolve a technical support issue with their product.

Note

The support provided by JAWS/Fusion for Microsoft Office tracks the Current Channel release schedule of the Office 365 updates which undergo most often updates.  Please see:  Microsoft Office 365 release history for further information.

Resolution

Method 1 - Via JAWS keystroke

1. Open and switch focus using alt+tab to a Microsoft Office application with the problem.
2. Then press either of the following keystroke as appropriate to keyboard setting used with JAWS: 
   
   Desktop – CONTROL+INSERT+V
   Laptop – Control+CAPSLOCK+V
   
   
3. The version info will be read out, press JAWSKey+SPACEBAR followed by H to open speech history.
4. Then navigate to the speech fragment containing version and build information, then highlight and copy the information.
   
5. Then press CONTROL+C to copy to clipboard.
   
6. Then paste the information into a convenient document and information Technical Support the version/build info. 
   

Method 2 - From the account page

1. Press ALT+F to open File menu and press DOWN ARROW to Account or Office Account.
   
2. Then press JAWSKey+ALT+W to virtualise the current window.
   
3. Then press CONTRROL+END to move to the end of the text, then press UP ARROW to reach About [office product] button; where this could be Word, Excel, Outlook or Powerpoint.
   
4. Then press DOWN ARROW to reach the line that starts with the word 'version'.
   
5. Then press SHIFT+END to highlight the line, then press CONTROL+C to  copy the information.
   
6. In a documernt or email reply press CONTROL+V to paste in the information to send to technical support.
