Microsoft - Reinstall Outlook classic

Problem

Microsoft have replaced the installed Outlook with Outlook new.

Resolution

Microsoft in 2024 started a policy of rolling out the new Outlook client to users with Microsoft Office iinstallations.  In the process of this they remove the existing Outlook client and replace with the new OUtlook software which has different functionality that disorientate some users.  You can use the steps below to download, then reinstall the Office software to regain access to prevoius Outlook now known as Outlook Classic.
  1. To reinstall Outlook classic go to this page:  https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/install-or-reinstall-classic-outlook-on-a-windows-pc-5c94902b-31a5-4274-abb0-b07f4661edf5#download
  2. Then click the drop down for language to select English United Kingdom.
  3. Then click the link Download.
  4. Once downloaded run the installer and follow the instructions.  On completion Outlook Classic should once again be available to use.

Running Outlook classic

  1. Click the Start button or press WINDOWS key to open the search box.
  2. Enter the text Outlook Classic, then choose that result in the start menu list.
  3. Outlook shoudl then run normally.
