Microsoft – Windows sign in PIN/password no longer being accepted
Problem
A problem may arise when Windows no longer accepts either a biometric fingerprint or PIN to sign into Windows. This may be due a change in security settings.

Resolution
You can attempt to get into safe mode and use the instructions to resolve the problem:
- At the Windows sign in screen press and hold Shift Key from the keyboard and click on Restart option under the power button symbol (bottom right). The computer will then restart in the recovery environment.
- Once the PC is in the recovery environment pleasse select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings, then click Reset
- Then press F5 to select Enable Safe Mode with Networking.
- Once the PC Boot in Safe Mode with Networking, sign in with your Microsoft account.
- Then go to Settings, click on Accounts.
- Select Sign in Options from the left pane. Under PIN click on Remove and then click on Add to create a new Pin.
- Restart the PC in Normal mode and check if you can login using the new PIN number.
