JAWS - Outlook profile selection does not speak + workaround

Problem

A JAWS has an Outlook (Classic) installation that has two user profiles available, Outlook when started intially will prompt the user to select the profile but JAWS does not properly read the drop down control select.

Resolution

This problem is a was first seen in JAWS 2022 November update and is current in JAWS 2026 also.. 


Workaround

  1. After starting Outlook the Select Profile dialogue window will open.
  2. Press ALT+DOWN ARROW to open the drop down control.
  3. Press JAWS SayLine hotkey JAWSKey+UP ARROW to read the currently select operation.
  4. Then press DOWN ARROW and then press SayLine JAWSKey+UP ARROW to read the new selection.
  5. When the correct profile is selected press ENTER to start Outlook in the selected profile.
