Read&Write – Install and activate software for Mac OS
Problem
A user needs to install their copy of Read & Write onto a Mac.
Resolution
Please follow the instructions below to install Read & Write on a Mac.
Step 1 – Downloading
Please have your Read & Write license serial number to hand.
- Click the link www.texthelp.com/essentials
- Enter the Read and Write product serial number and click Login button.
- Then click the Install link on the page, then click to down the installer for Mac. A DMG file will be downloaded to the downloads folder.
Step 2 – Installation
- In Finder open the Downloads or the folder where the Read&Write.dmg file has been store, then double click to open the file. A new window will open showing the Read & Write application icon.
- Click and drag the Read&Write icon into the Application folder to the right. You will then see the file being copied into the Applications folder.
- In Finder double click the Read & Write application in your Applications folder to launch the application.
- When prompted confirm that you wish to open the file.
- Upon opening another prompt may appear asking to confirm security permissions required to allow it to work properly. Follow the on screen instructions.
- Click on Security and Privacy, then click the padlock on the bottom left of the window and authorise using your login password.
- Then click click the checkbox next to the Read&Write icon and click Continue button.
- The Read&Write icon appears in the menu bar at the top right, you may be prompted to respond to the license agreement. Please click the option “I accept the license agreement” then click OK to proceed.
- You must sign in with your email address (normally your personal email address as opposed to one from college or university). Click the Read&Write icon to open and then choose an appropriate button from those shown to sign in.
Step 3 - Activate license
- Click Read&Write menu (top left) and choose About Read&Write.
- Then enter the Read&Write product code into the edit box in the dialogue box and click Activate.
