Microsoft - Restore missing/add system icons

Problem

A customer has lost access to special desktop icons such as This PC or Control Panel that were on the desktop.


Resolution

  1. Click the Windows button to open Start Menu.
  2. Then click Settings > Personalisation.
  3. Then click Themes in the left hand navigation panel.
  4. Then click Desktop Icon Settings link.
  5. In the dialogue window check the items that are required.
  6. Then click OK button, the icons should now be present on the desktop.
