JAWS - Script error when opening math content in a browser

Problem

A JAWS user working in a browser with math equations in the text encounters a script error when they press ENTER to read it.  The browser posts an error a script error similar to the one below:



Resolution

  • JAWS/Fusion 2022 customers should obtain the June update 2206 or later which should resolve the problem.
  • Apply the fix below manually to resolve the problem.

Note
Users on restricted accounts may need to be logged on with administrator credentials to apply the below fix.


  1. Download the file, MathJaxFiles.zip containing the updated file forcing JAWS to use the compatible version of MathJax.
  2. Then copy the two files in this ZIP folder and paste them into C:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\2022.
  3. Choose the option to replace the files when you get the overwrite prompt.
  4. Then restart your computer and the problem should then be resolved.
