U2 – Error "invalid account information" posted when access email

Problem

A customer is unable to download email from Gmail account using the Mail app on U2 series notetakers.

  • U2
  • U2 Mini
  • U2 QWERTY

Detail

When using the Mail app on U2 during the attempt to download email the error "invalid account information" is posted and the customer is unable to access email.

Resolution

• Google changed their security regime such that it is now impossible to access Gmail accounts with the U2. This problem affected both Polaris and BrailleSense 6 notetakers but was fixed with an update. The U2 line however was not issued a fix as this problem came up after the final version 9.0 firmware was released.
• Customers are advised to use an updated notetaker (currently BrailleSense 6 range.)
