ZoomText - Adjust tracking options

Problem

The ZoomText magnification tracking behaviour does not suit users needs.

Resolution

In some cases the ZoomText tracking options may need to be adjusted for a user, typically a user may wish to have the item being tracked stay in the centre of the display.  Use the steps below to adjust trh tracking options to suit.

ZoomText 2025 and later

  1. Click ZoomText taskbar button or press CONTROL+CAPSLOCK+U to open the main ZoomText window.
  2. In ZoomText window click ZoomText menu, then choose Navigation > Tracking.
  3. In the dialogue click Alignment tab.
  4. Under the Mouse Pointer group Click the radio button Centred Within The Zoom Window.
  5. Make the same change under Text Cursor Alignment as required.
  6. Click True Centre Tracking and Enable True Centre Tracking at 1x checkboxes.
  7. Then click OK button to save changes.
  8. Then click ZoomText menu.
  9. Choose Configurations > Save As Default.
  10. Then click Yes button when prompted to overwrite the default file.

ZoomText 2024 and earlier

  1. Click the ZoomText taskbar button or press CONTROL+CAPSLOCK+U to open the main ZoomText window.
  2. Then click Magnification tab in the main window.
  3. Then click the black down arrow under Navigation button on the right.
  4. Click the Alignment dialogue tab.
  5. Un the Mouse Pointer group click the radio button Centred Within The Zoom Window.
  6. Make the same changes for Text Cursor Alignment as required.
  7. Click OK to close the settings dialogue window.
  8. Click ZoomText menu in the main window.
  9. Then choose Configurations > Save As Default.
  10. Click Yes button when prompted to overwrite the default file.
