FS Auth – Problems with activating new subscription/SMA licenses
Problem
A JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion user who has purchased and downloaded their 2025 product software in from October 2025 and later encounters a problem where their product license activation fails with the message 'Error validating license code'.
Applies to
- JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion
Resolution
- From October subscription and new time based SMA licenses have started being sold in the UK. Some older builds of JAWS/ZoomText/Fusion 2025 do not know how to handle the new subscription and time based SMA data contained in these licenses. This may cause the software to fail to activate.
- Those experiencing this problem may fix the problem by ensuring their product is on the latest 2025 build which is 2508 released in September 2025. Please use the steps below to check the version currently being used and update if necessary.
- Below is an example build number which will have this problem: 2025.2506.36
For JAWS
- Press JAWSKey+J or control+capslock+J for JAWS window or context menu.
- Then navigate to help > About JAWS.
- Then check the build number after the main JAWS version number 2025, if the next set of digits shows 2506 or a lower build number, please update the 2025 product to the latest build 2508.
For ZoomTet/Fusion
- Click the Fusion taskbar button or press Press control+capslock+U to open the main window.
- Click Fusion menu > Help > About Fusion. Check the build number of the main version 2025 number. If the build shows 2506 or lower the software requires an update to built 2508.
