Microsoft - Harvard Reference style does not show in Microsoft Word

Problem

In Microsoft Word you encounter a problem where in the Referencees ribbon you are unable to see Harvard listed in the available list of academic referencing styles.

Resolution

Before proceeding with the solution outlined below make sure are using Microsoft Word installed in WQindows or Mac OS.  Word online does not have the Harvard referencing facilities.

Method 1 - Check language settings

Check that UK English is set within Microsoft Word, when it is selected Harvard style should then be available automatically.

  1. Click FileOptionsLanguage
  2. Check under the Office Authoring Languages & Proofing for the presence of English (United Kingdom) is availeble, 
  3. Then click to Set As Default button.
  4. If English (United Kingdom) is not preesent click the Add Language button, select it and click Set As Defalt.
  5. Restart Microwoft Word..
